Considering individual differences in learning styles: a study of learning styles

One of the attractions of e-learning is that it allows for personalized learning. It is difficult to provide education that is tailored to the individual learner's preferences, experiences and characteristics in traditional simultaneous classes.
In fact, in order to integrate personalized learning into eLearning, we need to distinguish between different types of learners and sort out the differences in learning behaviors and strategies for each type of learner. There are many ways to classify the types of learners, but in this article, we will focus on "learning styles".

Learning style is defined as the preferred cognitive activity and the style and method of learning activity used in learning (Tatsuno, 1986). Learners receive and process information in a different way. They introspect and experience, interpret logically and instinctively, analyze and diagram the information. Learning is said to be more effective and facilitated when the style of learning and teaching methods used by learners are compatible.
There are many published models of learning styles and related questionnaires, but here we present the Felder-Silverman model, a model created jointly by Dr. Felder and Dr. Silverman, which was initially developed by Dr. Felder and Dr. Silverman, and was initially used in universities to study engineering and It was developed for use by learners of science and their instructors. It has now been applied in other fields.

A detailed description of this model can be found on Dr. Felder's website (http://www4.ncsu.edu/unity/lockers/users/f/felder/public/RMF.html)
The Felder-Silverman model classifies learning styles into four areas. Each of the four areas then has two types, and the styles are identified by the tendency for learners to prefer one type more than the other.

STOP!

First of all, please check your own learning style. *When answering the question, please enter "Kumadai Name".

What was the result?

Below is a description of the four areas and how to promote each type of learning [1].
However, the types classified are not absolute, but tend to be that way. The study of learning styles is not just for e-learning, so it can be used in traditional classes as well. If you are on the learner's side, if you are using a teaching method that you don't prefer in a classroom setting, you can choose a method that is easier to learn and more effective when you are studying on your own.

Now, read the feedback below as you query your own learning style judgments and actual learning.

How did it compare to your own learning? There may have been areas where you thought "maybe you were right" and others where you thought "maybe not so much.
Read the following material and think about teaching for learning styles and learner characteristics as a study of providing learning environments and learning that incorporates individual differences in learners to maximize educational effectiveness.
