Course Description: | This course is designed to cultivate a foundation for conceptualizing, planning, and examining human resource development and education within companies and organizations. Students will learn about various theories of business administration with a focus on organizational theory and human resource management, important concepts and theories in business administration, recent developments in organizational theory, the meaning and methodology of education and learning in organizations, and human resource management, which is essential when considering educational activities in companies. By learning these topics, students will deepen their understanding of the relationship between corporate management and human resource development. |
Required reading: | There are assigned readings in each session of Advanced Business Administration. Please refer to the「Required readings and Schedule」 and prepare the "Items to be prepared by each student" before each class.

In [Block 1], which is the orientation for the class, we will first confirm the aims and procedures of the study in "Advanced Management Studies". In addition, based on the concept of "workplace learning," we will work to build a bird's eye view of research areas and issues related to human resource development. Then, based on the above, we will organize the positioning of business administration in human resource development, especially the relationship between educational technology and business administration.
Session1:Positioning of the management approach in human resource development
In [Block 2], we will work on drawing a map of Human Resource Management (HRM). In this block, one new book or several journal articles will be assigned each time. While reading these assigned books, we will review our own knowledge of human resource management from the perspective of "accuracy" and "comprehensiveness".

In Block 3, we will focus on concepts and methodologies related to knowledge creation and organizational learning. In this block, one or two chapters from technical books or several journal articles will be required each time. While reading through these required readings, we will work on organizing the concepts of theories related to knowledge creation and organizational learning, and methodologies such as action learning, systems approach, and critical approach, with an awareness of their relationship to organizational change and human resource development.

In Block 4, we will learn about work-related learning for working adults from the perspectives of business administration and educational technology. When we think of human resource development in a company, the first thing that may come to mind is learning through training. However, we also learn about work through our experiences and interactions with our superiors, seniors, and others in the workplace. We will deepen our understanding of the process of learning on the job by reading the relevant chapters in the assigned book.

In this class, we have been aiming to understand the activity of human resource development as an activity that includes not only "formal" educational programs such as training and seminars, but also "informal" learning (acquisition of practical and experiential knowledge) while engaging in work in the field. Session 15:Writing the final report: Designing a "work-related learning" project
The minimum requirement for credit is a score of 60% or higher on each of the following assignments.
Students will be required to write a report on each class to confirm their understanding of the content and awareness of the issues.(Grades will be given for a total of 14 sessons from the 1st to the 14th.
There will be a detailed explanation of the theme "Significance and Positioning of OJT in Human Resource Development" in the 15th session.
